The globalisation has brought about a rising interest in a wide variety of fruit and vegetables from every destination imaginable - and available year round. We often see products, previously a novelty; become a household name in retail stores in a matter of a very short time. The rucola salad is a prime example

of the consumers' and customers' increasing demand for taste and quality.

Lembcke's fruit and vegetable assortment consists of several hundred types of products - ranging from nuts and liquorice root to white cabbage and carrots. Products grown in far-away places such as New Zealand (kiwi, apples, pears), The Andes in Columbia and Peru (asparagus, berries) and several other Asian countries (lemon grass, mangos teen, baby corn, Chinese pears).

New sorts and methods of cultivation are developed concurrently with demands for ripeness, sugar content and taste alternatives - just as an ongoing experimentation with new packaging and alternative transportation means is ongoing special attention is given to one area in particular - health and food safety. Fruit and vegetables are a healthy and important nourishment source - and they must continue to be so. Therefore, we expect the highest standards from our suppliers, when it comes to the use of pesticides, hygiene and safe cultivation.
